100 Games ago, I never would have thought that this team
would have grew to where it is now. We not only grew as footballers, we went
beyond that and formed a family. Friendship is the core structure in Katana FC.
Last night, we celebrated our friendship by organizing a Formal Dinner to
celebrate our 100th Game Anniversary called: Katana Centennial
Dinner (KCD). IR1968 closed their door that night just to accommodate for
Katana Centennial dinner by making it as a private event.
For me, it was more of a night of appreciation for all
footballers, friends and WAGS who’s been playing, contributing and supporting
Katana FC. Each and every one of the Guest were part of the team’s journey. We
wanted to share our special moment with all of them. One thing that I’m glad,
Katana FC’s former players/Legends joined us that night to celebrate our Big
Night. Despite being away for a year plus due to injuries, they made an effort
to catch up with the players that night. It was nice to see all dressed up in
suits and dresses. I heard some of the guys had to pinjam suit kawan for it.
Sorry for the trouble but bila lagi nak hensem2 camnie kan? Haha. The dress
code were supposed to symbolize the maturity in Katana FC, but the boys well
behavior only lasted the first 30mins, after that they were back to themselves
and that brought all the fun to the night.
It wasn’t easy to organize such event. I had it planned for
3 months. Beforehand, I had to source for the Venue, Door Gift (Keychain),
Photo Backdrop, Trophies & etc. So much work to be done for the Team’s Big
Night. I pretty much cross-checked with all the people involved to make sure
that the event will be a great one. Here, I would like to give a shout out as a
token of appreciation to the Committee members; Adee, Hafiz, Ina, Bern, Nana,
Mateen, Azmil & Capik. I couldn’t have done it without them.
Our sponsor; Parabox Studio launched our new printed jersey
that night. They surprised everyone including the Committee themselves that
night by presenting a Scale Model of ‘Katana FC Stadium’. Parabox Studio have
been having sleepless night for almost a week in order to rush the Stadium for
KCD. The detailing of the Stadium was superb. They had our theme color on the
roofs; Black & Orange, Katana FC Wordings on the seats, Logo on the field,
Parabox on the sponsorship board & etc. One of their staff had a fever and
had to bail out from the dinner due to the amount of work in preparing the
Stadium. Katana FC appreciate Parabox Studio’s gift to the team in presenting
the Stadium that night.
Apart from the Main Sponsor; Parabox Studio, we also had
individual sponsors among the Katana FC’s family; Azmil & Mateen (Flag),
Ina (Lucky Draw prizes), Syam (Trophies), Nana (Guestbook).
A few designers also contributed their skills for KCD; Iema
(Voting form for the Awards), Sazwan from Parabox Studio (Flag, Keychain &
Photo Backdrop). The awesome video showed at the Dinner was done by Mell.
Another big contribution to the event was Mateen who created Katana FC official
website/blog (
www.katanafc.blogspot.com).
I personally think the keychain is awesome!
Our 2 MC; Khairul Hisham & Ekey Iesta did a good job in
handling the event. The Founder of IR1968; Debbie actually believed what the 2
MC’s announced for the Lucky Draw Prizes. She asked, “Is it true that first
place will get Proton Preve?”. Hahahahaha
My next plan for the Team is to make the team as a platform
for a group of friends to gather and have activities together outside of the
field. In the near future, we will organize ‘Majlis Berbuka Puasa aka
Break-fast at Tiffany #6’. We have been organizing it for the past 5 years, and
it gets bigger and better every year. Maybe after Raya we can have activities
such as; BBQ, Hiking, Kayaking, Paint Ball, Lasertag & etc.
I would like to thank everyone for being part in celebrating
our Team’s achievement in hitting the 100th Mark. I hope everyone
enjoyed the night. Sorry if I failed to organize the Dinner up to your
expectation. I tried my very best to have it in the best possible way. I was so
worried about the flow of the event that I didn’t even touch the buffet. I only
had ONE spoon of food fed by Capik (awww…hahahaha) and a sip of Nana’s drink.
They were my victim because I sat between them. Apart from that, I have no idea
apa rasa lauk lain. But after seeing all the smiles on everyone’s face during
the group photo session, that made my day. Some came up to me and said, “Zam,
can we have it annually?”…and my reply to that; “Oh Hell yeahh!!!”…I guess at
the end of the day, it’s not about where you are or what you do…its about who
you with. To all Katana FC players, I am blessed & proud to play football
alongside all you guys. Like I always say;
“We May Not Be The Best Team In The World…but We Are The Best Team In
The World To Be Part Of”
